At Benedict House Preparatory School, sport is a central part of school life, supporting physical development while embedding our core values of resilience, respect, integrity, teamwork and empathy. Our inclusive sports programme encourages every pupil to enjoy being active, develop confidence and challenge themselves within a supportive environment.
Our PE curriculum is carefully mapped to ensure pupils from Pre School to Year 6 experience a progressive and well balanced physical education.
In the early years, the focus is on developing fundamental movement skills, coordination and body awareness through structured and engaging activities. Pupils develop these through:
As pupils move into Prep, the curriculum becomes more structured, introducing formal sports, competitive elements and strategic thinking:
Lessons are supported by excellent facilities, including a newly built Multi Use Games Area, an astroturf area, an engaging trim trail and a spacious Pre School playground. Pupils from Year 1 to Year 6 also benefit from weekly swimming lessons, ensuring strong water safety skills, with opportunities for competitive swimmers to take part in swimming galas.
Pupils regularly represent Benedict House in Football, Netball and Tag Rugby fixtures, competing at friendly, festival and ISA levels. A highlight of the school year is our annual Sports Day, alongside enrichment opportunities such as visits to major sporting venues, including Wimbledon, and athlete visits that inspire our young sportspeople.
