Our Early Years children arrive through their dedicated building and are warmly welcomed into their classrooms, where they begin the day with familiar morning routines and a calm settling activity. This gentle start helps children feel secure and ready for learning. Following registration, children move into their phonics groups, where they learn new sounds, read together and develop early spelling skills in a supportive and engaging way.
As the morning continues, Reception children take part in carefully planned literacy and maths sessions, while our Pre School children explore and deepen their learning through purposeful continuous provision. Throughout the week, pupils engage in a balance of adult led activities linked to literacy and maths alongside rich opportunities for child initiated learning. Learning is often themed, allowing children to explore exciting topics such as space, dinosaurs and fairy tales.
In Early Years, we place great importance on nurturing a love of books and reading and provide a language rich environment that supports communication, confidence and curiosity. Across the week, children also enjoy specialist PE and Music lessons and pupils in Reception are introduced to French, supporting their early language development.
