Outside the Classroom

We are very proud of our outdoor learning environment, which has been thoughtfully designed with child development at its heart. A particular favourite is our pebble pit, complete with sit on diggers, pulleys and cement mixers, which encourages imaginative role play, gross motor development and collaborative play. Our obstacle course is also hugely popular, offering children opportunities to climb, slide and roll with growing confidence and enthusiasm.

The outdoor space further includes a large sandpit and a dedicated water play area, alongside a pretend road equipped with balance bikes and scooters. Here, children develop balance, coordination and core strength while engaging in imaginative play, often taking on roles such as traffic officers as they navigate the space.

At Benedict House, we place great value on real world learning experiences. Each term, we aim to take children on an educational visit or welcome a workshop into school. Recent experiences have included trips to the local fire station, library and farms, as well as visits from police officers and providers of space themed and storytelling workshops, enriching children’s learning beyond the classroom.
